FAQs
Industry-Leading Epoxy Floor Systems in Newark and Beyond
What is epoxy flooring?
Epoxy flooring is a liquid compound of resins and hardeners that are poured over a surface to create a seamless flooring system. Most epoxy mixtures are chemical-resistant, heat-resistant, damage-resistant, and easy to clean and care for.
How long does epoxy flooring last?
Depending on everyday use and occasional maintenance, quality epoxy flooring generally lasts between 5 to 7 years. There are many elements that play a key role in the longevity of an epoxy floor system, including surface preparation, specified thickness, foot traffic, and more.
Is epoxy flooring heat resistant?
Yes – epoxy flooring should never exceed 160 degrees of heat for sustained periods or on a regular basis. However, there are special epoxy products that deliver even greater heat resistance and allow for temperatures up to 600 degrees.
Is epoxy flooring waterproof?
To an extent. Epoxy is regularly used as a waterproofer, however many other factors contribute to the success of the product, including environment, daily conditions, etc. Concrete floors can gain greater water resistance with elastomeric epoxy coatings, which we offer at Epoxy Concrete Coatings.
How long does it take to install epoxy flooring?
At Epoxy Concrete Coatings, your new epoxy flooring can be installed in a matter of hours depending on the designated surface area. Most epoxy products we use have a 8 to 12 hour cycle. However, we do offer fast curing products for rapid project turnaround.
How do you clean epoxy flooring?
Maintaining and caring for your epoxy floor is simple. A soft bristle broom can be used to remove light debris from your surfacing, and an alkaline cleaner with a synthetic mop is also a good option. Your Epoxy Concrete Coatings installer will tell you how to best care for your epoxy flooring before the project is completed.
